Polyester resins – DCPD
The production of yachts and boats brings great challenges. Depending on the needs and conditions of use, the product can be used to produce general-purpose orthophthalic polyester resins together with various types of fibers and fabrics. WILLYBERG resins of this type are available in versions for manual and spray application.
Although this type of resin has been known for many years, WILLYBERG recommends unsaturated polyester resins based on – Dicyclopentadiene – DCPD.
Resins of this type are a relatively new and constantly improved product on the market, and due to their molecular structure, they require much less styrene to achieve the same viscosity of unsaturated polyester as orthophthalic resins, which significantly improves the comfort of work. DCPD resins have their advantages, especially in the form of lower viscosity and better processability, better surface properties and higher resistance to weather conditions and water.
Why is it worth considering using DCPD resins?
DCPD resins from WILLYBERG are characterized by:
- high thermal resistance HDT
- very easy to deform
- low styrene emissions
- fast hardening
- minimal surface shrinkage
- high resistance to deformation
- possession of a Lloyd's Register Certificate
