Resins for VARTM and RTM

special products

VARTM and RTM resins are used in the production of composite parts in the automotive industry, rail vehicles, railway vehicles, marine vehicles, subway cars, construction and prefabricated houses. They have low viscosity and high fiber wetting ability.

RTM -Resin Transfer Molding- is a technology where the elements are formed in closed molds. Two-part forms can be given various shapes. During the production process, resin is injected under pressure between two closed molds. Pouring takes place under high pressure from 2 to 10 Bar, where the resin fills the counterform in which reinforcements or reinforcements are placed on the gelcoat, depending on the type of the final product. Excess resin is drained through special holes. The forms of this technology are characterized by a massive and solid construction. This technology ensures a product with a perfectly smooth surface and greatly speeds up the production cycle compared to manual lamination.

In the case of VARTM – Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding, the technology is derived from RTM, and the resin is introduced under the influence of vacuum pressure. The pressure used here is lower, usually from 0.5 to 1 Bar. The upper form is in the form of a vacuum bag.

Various types of resins can be used with these technologies, such as:
